Free Energy Blueprint
Chinese Five Elements Calculator
Explore your Day Stem and Five Elements pattern from your birth details. Birth time is optional; without it, your reading includes no Hour Pillar.
A traditional Chinese framework for symbolic self-reflection—not a scientific assessment or prediction.
What This Calculator Shows
Your Energy Blueprint brings together your Day Stem, also called the Day Master, the available pillars of your BaZi chart, and a Five Elements pattern. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water are traditional symbolic categories used to describe that pattern.
With a known birth time, ORRA calculates the Year, Month, Day and Hour Pillars. Without a birth time, it uses the Year, Month and Day Pillars only. Each available pillar contains a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch. The result gives you a visual starting point for reflection, rather than a complete interpretation of every part of traditional BaZi.
Day Master and Five Elements: Two Different Results
Your Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar. That stem has one associated Five Element. ORRA identifies it from the Day Pillar, not from a personality questionnaire or the largest percentage in your result.
The Five Elements percentages describe a broader symbolic distribution across the available chart inputs. The highest percentage does not determine your Day Master. These two results answer different questions: which stem belongs to your Day Pillar, and how ORRA represents the wider elemental pattern. Read our Day Master guide for more about that reference point.
Can I Use It Without a Birth Time?
Yes. Leave the birth-time fields blank to receive a date-based Blueprint. ORRA does not invent an Hour Pillar or include an Hour Pillar element contribution when your birth time is unknown.
You still receive a date-based Day Stem and a Five Elements pattern, but with less chart context. This is not a complete Four Pillars chart. A known time can matter near calculation boundaries, so a date-based result should not be treated as identical to every possible timed result for that date. Our guide to BaZi and the Four Pillars explains the surrounding structure.
How Birthplace and True Solar Time Affect the Calculation
Your selected birthplace provides the timezone context for your birth details. A repeated local time during a daylight-saving transition may require you to choose standard or daylight time. A clock time skipped during a transition cannot be accepted as a valid birth time.
True Solar Time is optional. ORRA uses birthplace longitude, the UTC offset active at the resolved time, and an Equation of Time approximation to adjust the wall time used for calculation. This does not change the physical birth instant.
If that adjusted time crosses ORRA’s midnight calculation boundary, the Day Pillar—and therefore the Day Master—may differ. With an unknown birth time, the calculation remains a date-based approximation. Other BaZi traditions may use different conventions; True Solar Time is not presented here as universally required.
What the Percentages Mean—and Their Limits
The percentages come from ORRA’s proprietary symbolic Five Elements model. It considers visible stems, hidden stems within branches, seasonal weighting associated with the month, and a Day Stem contribution across the available pillars.
Equal shares of 20% are not an ideal to achieve. The lowest element does not automatically need supplementation, and 0% is not a diagnosis of deficiency. The highest percentage does not define your personality. These percentages do not determine Day Master strength, Useful God, or favorable and unfavorable elements, and they do not predict health or future outcomes.
